Flavour of the Week

Keeping you up to date with the week's hottest releases

Artist: Clairo

Album: Charm

Label: Independent

Genres: Bedroom pop, indie rock, indie pop, soft rock

With Clairo, you know roughly what you’re going to get: a shy and intimate pop song that the softest of soft rockers would be proud of. Although her albums are consistent, she has gradually perfected her instrumental choices and, here, we are blessed with some of her most powerful lyrics to date.

Artist: Remi Wolf

Album: Big Ideas

Label: Island

Genres: Soul, pop, funk, bedroom pop

Contrasting Clairo, we have a vocal powerhouse whose songs are always packed with surprises. Remi Wolf’s hyperactive personality shines through in her music, filling every nook and cranny with humorous ad libs and ear candy. Produced to the max, this album sounds great through headphones.

Artist: Eminem

Album: The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)

Label: Interscope

Genres: Hip hop

In 1999, Slim Shady – Eminem’s most iconic persona – was introduced to the masses and changed hip hop forever. Conscious of his position as a white rapper, this bleach-blonde character enabled him to explore themes that were previously untouched in mainstream music. Here we witness the end of a historic era (even if the album is a mixed bag!).
